At first glance I seem like a very traditional person. I wear a pretty simple and classic style of dress (jeans, cardigans, and ballet flats). I prefer old movies over brand-new blockbusters. When it came to the music we wanted to play at the ceremony I wanted traditional music. Mr. D did not want the classical music that is played at most weddings. He wanted it to sound more like “us.” He very much wanted to incorporate the song “Hallelujah” Headpieces for women by Jeff Buckley. For those of you not familiar with the song:

As you can see, it’s a beautiful song but the lyrics are not exactly what you think of when you think wedding. Honestly, it’s a very depressing song. Despite the darkness of the songs, Mr. D desperately wanted it.

I even had a song that I wanted to walk down the aisle to that is not traditional in the slightest:

And we hit an ever bigger snag while planning our ceremony music: unless it was a Christian song, it could not have lyrics. It was a church policy, one of the few that we had hit that created a problem in planning.
