In an interview, Richard Ward, whose salon was in charge of styling all of the Middleton family's hair, admitted the secret to how he and his team worked day after day to get the bride's hair just right – even without either Miss Middleton or the tiara to practise on.

But the plastic version did the trick and the team were able to magic Miss Middleton's hair into the demi-chignon style without a hitch. The salon revealed how it avoided a repeat of the 1981 wedding, when Diana, the Princess of Wales was seen having to nervously adjust her tiara as it slipped out of place.
